Irvin
Partner
"Clarity of thought, practicality, and dedication: that’s what it’s all about for us. And we have a great time putting that into practice each and every day!"
Irvin Faneyte joined OC&C in 1996. He started out in the Rotterdam office and subsequently worked across Europe in various sectors, including B2B services, transportation and media.
Adding to his extensive M&A work while at OC&C, Irvin left the firm in 2005 to broaden his experience in investment banking. He re-joined OC&C as a partner early in 2007.
In addition to his M&A work across industries, Irvin currently focuses on the transportation, leisure, and media sectors.
Eline
Associate Consultant
“It’s OC&C’s people that I most like: hard working, professional and with both feet on the ground”
Eline van Niekerk studied International Business Administration (BSc), Finance & Investment (MSc) and CEMS (MSc) in Rotterdam. She took a break year in America, six months study in Barcelona, active for many years in AIESEC, and a three month work placement with JP Morgan, before joining OC&C.
I realised that investment banking wasn’t really the thing for me. I wanted more direct interaction with clients, more responsibility, and more diversity in the analyses that I did. Therefore, I went for strategy consulting.
I participated in business courses and events and found that it was OC&C’s people that I most liked: hard working, professional and with both feet on the ground. Every one of them are nice people. That’s really important in this business.
It has been very enjoyable so far. I’ve been continually faced with new challenges – and in the project teams got parts of the problems to work out independently. There’s a great deal of emphasis on acquiring competencies at OC&C.
Bram
Associate Partner
“Solutions bigger than a drawing board”
Bram Kuijpers has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Delft University of Technology. He specialized in logistics, working as an intern for a Swedish shipping company. He liked engineering very much, but he opted for strategy consulting.
Technology has always fascinated me: from large-scale plants and machineries to the mechanics of my own car. During my internship, however, I realised I simply could not picture myself in the drawing room - For me, strategy consulting is the way to both develop and apply my analytical skills, beyond engineering.
Now, I spend my days twisting my brain, with lots of thinking and calculating, but the questions are totally different. Products, processes, cost structure: everything is turned around. The end result is bigger than would ever fit on a drawing board.
I received several offers from consulting firms. My choice for OC&C is based on the people and the atmosphere. I am learning a lot from my OC&C team members, but they see me as equal. That openness and equality decided it for me.
Elcke
Associate Consultant
“I’ve still got a lot to learn – and at OC&C I will”
Elcke Jansen studied Technology Management at Eindhoven University, graduating in Operations Management & Logistics on research she did at Leuven University in Belgium and with ASML, a manufacturer of semiconductor production equipment.
I have to be busy, it energises me. And I’m a good planner – I know how to keep an eye on the total picture. That’s why I became enthusiastic about consulting once I’d decided to go into business. It is a dynamic and analytically challenging profession. And we work in teams of young people.
Why OC&C? For one, the quantitative approach to consulting: developing recommendations on the basis of solid analyses of hard facts. Secondly, the broad perspective we take in our work (an approach which I enjoyed as a student, too) – that is to say, we don’t look at issues in isolation but take the whole business into account.
Finally, OC&C has a super working climate. I’ve clearly got much to learn, still – and at OC&C, I will!
Thijs
Associate Consultant
“It’s the people and the atmosphere at OC&C that mean the most to me”
Thijs Dikkers studied Civil Engineering in Delft (MA Offshore Engineering).
After ISW I had a work placement with OC&C and they made me an offer. To be sure I’d made the right choice I did another placement with an engineering firm. But I found strategy consulting far more challenging: the projects, the atmosphere at work, and the people you work with at OC&C attracted me much more.
In my first year my projects were in a wide range of sectors, from animal feed and the wine trade to in flight catering. My most recent project was on oil storage for which I went to stay in Houston for two months. As soon as I heard that we’d taken on this particular assignment, I put myself up for it. At OC&C, if you show interest in a project you have a real chance of getting it.
Imke
Associate Consultant
“Challenge, variety and learning quickly in an encouraging environment”
Imke Wouters studied International Business Studies and Law in Maastricht (Netherlands), completing part of her curriculum in Canada and conducted market research in China for Dutch companies.
Strategy consulting means challenge, variety and learning quickly. And it’s project work in teams, which I really like.
I was one of 30 participants in the OC&C International Strategy Workshop in Istanbul workshop. We were selected from several European countries. The workshop was very realistic: we did a mini-assignment for one of OC&C’s clients and I really liked the OC&C people who ran the workshop. That made me decide to join this firm.
A clear plus for OC&C is its flexible approach to people development, along with the variety of the work and the smart people you work with. Also, junior consultants get plenty of opportunity to work closely with directors of the firm. And the training week in Barcelona, with colleagues from all over the world, was really special!
Joost
Consultant
“At OC&C I’m building a wonderful foundation for my long term future”
Joost Sars studied Aviation and Aerospace Engineering in Delft graduating in aviation systems integration (SIL) . He had work placements with Lloyd Aereo Boliviano amongst others before joining OC&C.
At OC&C I'm building up a broad range of knowledge and experience and so building a wonderful foundation for my future. I've been on the most varied projects, from aviation to the wine trade - One day you're developing a new strategy, the next you're improving purchasing for a company.
I've developed enormously in my two years here. At OC&C you're very soon independently working out topics in your project teams, and you're also very soon in direct contact with clients at senior management level.
There are also loads of chances for development outside the projects. I've made transport my specialism; I track developments closely, suggest projects, and keep in touch with the teams.
Marc
Partner
“Making sure our recommendations are implemented is often our greatest challenge. Developing the strategy itself is relatively easy by comparison, even if the issues involved are highly complex.”
Marc has served clients in different industries, notably the consumer sectors (both consumer goods and retail), but also transport and financial services. He assisted clients in these industries on a full range of strategic issues such as mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, new business development, pricing and assortment, and new channel strategy.
Mechiel
Manager
“Taking into account the people you are working for”
After Mechiel Wilbrink had received his degree in Applied Physics from Eindhoven University of Technology an academic career beckoned, yet in August 2002 he opted for OC&C.
As a student, I already knew that I needed more variety. When I discovered strategy consulting, my first thought was: this is exactly what I have been looking for; complex issues, just as in science, plus giving the solutions a practical translation whilst taking into account the people you are working for.
In the first years, most of my attention went to mastering the basics: analysing, interviewing, presenting. Gradually, my attention shifted to building valuable relationships with clients, in order to really begin to understand what the advice means for them.
Ever since I first came here, I have felt a match. I instantly felt I could make a difference. Together with talented, entrepreneurial and very diverse colleagues, it was an intuitive choice, which I still support wholeheartedly.
Linda
Consultant
“I am developing new skills really fast at OC&C”
Linda Geux studied Applied Physics in Delft, business economics in Rotterdam and Japanese language and culture in Leiden and Tokyo, and member of the executive of the AEGEE European students’ association. Linda spent seven years with Dutch telecom firm KPN (two years in Japan) before joining OC&C in August 2006.
Strategy consulting was always an option for me, but I first wanted to experience what it’s like to operate in a large corporation.
I’ve learned from experience that I prefer working on early stage innovation projects, seamlessly integrating different components. For me, the major attraction of strategy consulting is that the work focuses on putting the jigsaw together.
Another thing is that companies only call us in if they’ve a burning need, which means there’s always a great sense of urgency in all our assignments. And we are constantly challenged at OC&C to keep moving, also in our personal development. I am developing new skills really fast this way.
Bart
Associate Partner
“Every new project makes me hugely enthusiastic all over again about the way we work.”
Bart van den Meiracker studied mechanical engineering in Delft, was an executive for various student organisations and, with two friends, ran a small gents' made to measure suit business for a short time. Bart joined OC&C in November 2001 and has been a project leader since 2005.
OC&C people are super. In strategy consulting you work with really clever and motivated people, and you achieve results as a team.
For the first few years I was totally focused on projects but my advisory role is now very much broader. CEOs want to share their troubles with me and talk them over. In these cases my experience from different sectors and project types often leads to some interesting discussions.
Joris (right)
Consultant
“At OC&C you get plenty of chances to develop”
Joris Drabbe graduated in mechanical engineering from Delft Technical University, an executive of his student association, the DTU Senate, and several committees. He had internships with OC&C and Procter & Gamble, joining OC&C in February 2005.
OC&C gives you plenty of room to grow. In the project teams to start with of course. But you can very quickly take on a more managerial role in the teams if it seems like you’re up to it. OC&C gives me the variety and the continual challenge that I’m looking for (in a job).
Very exciting are the due diligences we do for potential mergers and acquisitions. Our work informs major decisions that have to be taken quickly. In these projects, you work closely with all kinds of other professionals: investors, bankers, accountants, lawyers and technical (e.g. environmental) specialists.
