Winning using End-Game strategies

OC&C believe that successful companies are those that take unusual risks, with ambitious management and often unconventional ways of doing things. ‘Steady as she goes’ companies inevitably fall by the way-side. So how do you get the winning gene back into the body corporate?

THE STRATEGIC PROMISED LAND suggests a way of doing this: Employing End-Game Thinking.

We have previously written (‘WHAT HAPPENED TO WINNING?’) about our disappointment that so many companies seem to have had certain genes removed from their corporate bodies (e.g. those related to strategy). The concept of ‘business as war’, the culture of continuous improvement and the vocabulary of a winning organisation seem to have paled into insignificance in the face of very short term EPS or EBIT growth.

The best way of cutting through this inertia is, in OC&C’s opinion, to adopt End-Gaming as the central plank in the next planning cycle.
