Meet our Consultants

Our people are our success and we endeavour to celebrate and support them throughout their careers.

When asked, what sets OC&C apart from other strategy consultancies, the most common answer is a group of intelligent, motivated and genuinely fun people which make up the supportive workforce. But, don’t take our work for it – hear what our team has to say.

Jimi, Consultant

I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a MEng in Engineering. I first learnt about OC&C at an employer presentation. What appealed most to me was OC&C’s focus on high-level strategy work (as opposed to implementation) and the interesting sectors (such as retail and technology) that it focuses on.

Since joining, no project experience has been the same as a previous one. My favourite experience was when I worked on a theme park & resorts project abroad. Developing innovative pricing strategies and distinctive customer propositions was incredibly exciting and getting to ride rollercoasters every evening wasn’t bad too.

But also, joining a peer group is one of the best and most unique aspects of choosing to work at OC&C. You quickly forge strong friendships with the consultants you join with and end up socialising them not just at the bi-annual peer group dinners but at weekends and on holidays too.

The advice I would give to someone who wants to apply to us - try to find out as much as you can about the types of projects that we (and other consultancies) do.

OC&C is focused on shorter 3-8 week projects in which we solve our clients problems rapidly. This means the job is more suited to people who like taking on new challenges regularly and are happy to learn about a very wide variety of industries.

The interview process was straightforward with all the interviews taking place on one day. The interviewers and consultants we had the chance to speak with over coffee were all very friendly and I ended up working with some of them on my first project.

Tom, Consultant

I’m a Consultant in the OC&C London office and a focus on Retail and Leisure industries. I have also spent time in the New York office.

Having studied from Biological Sciences at Oxford University, I started my career in a generalist strategy role. However, I found myself leaning toward the more heavily quantitative problems and taught myself to code so I could better address these. It was at this point OC&C contacted me and the role seemed like the perfect fit – combining both strategic and technical skillsets.

It’s difficult to pick a favourite project since each one is so different. A project could be great because the problem you’re solving, the team, the role you play or the impact for the client.

In terms of advice to applicants, I would say do not neglect the strategy side. Case study skills are just as important as the technical ones and you’ll be expected to be structured, concise and insightful in your answers.
