Luke Tripp, Associate Partner in Consumer Goods

What was your background prior to joining OC&C?

I grew up in London to a mixed-race (Nigerian / Indian) dad and a British mum. I went to Queen Mary University for my undergraduate degree, where I studied Maths, and then completed a Masters in Management at UCL. I joined OC&C straight after finishing my Masters.

What’s your favourite OC&C experience?

In the 6 years I have been with the firm, I have had many great experiences. My favourite have been my experiences on our Away Weekends. Since joining we have been to Barcelona, Portugal, Malta, Marbella and Tenerife. They have all been great chances to get together with colleagues in amazing settings and they have always been a lot of fun.

What advice would you give to someone applying at OC&C?

Don’t underestimate the importance of extracurricular activities in your application. OC&C will be looking for excellent academics and good work experience. But they also want to hire well rounded individuals, those that have taken on interesting and impressive roles outside of academics and work, so make sure you demonstrate this in your application.

What do you like to get up to in your free time outside the office?

I play a lot of football and have recently taken up tennis. Outside of sports most of my time is spent hanging out with my wife and our friends at restaurants, pubs or each other’s houses. My wife and I also love a good holiday!

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Be yourself and, above all else, make sure you enjoy yourself!
