Lucy, Consultant

What was your background prior to joining OC&C?

I graduated with a degree in Modern Languages and Management Studies from Cambridge University in 2017, before taking c.9months out to travel around China, Cuba and a couple of other places. During my third year at university I worked in Colombia for 10 months for an education charity, where I supported them with their marketing and business development. In my second year I also interned at an advertising agency and a boutique management consulting company.

What’s your favourite OC&C experience?

In all honesty its quite hard to pick one…My favourite OC&C project experience so far was doing a pro-bono project for an education charity. It was clear that our work was incredibly impactful and greatly appreciated by the charity, so it was a very rewarding experience. My favourite OC&C non-project experiences are probably playing for the OC&C netball team and of course the annual away weekend trips!

What do you like to get up to in your free time outside the office?

I am a ‘foodie’ at heart so I like discovering and trying out new places for food and drink in London, and catching up with friends in the process. I also like to get out and about and do something active after work and on the weekends, so I play in a couple of netball leagues and have also recently taken up bouldering (albeit rather badly…)

What advice would you give to someone applying at OC&C?

My advice to someone applying to OC&C would be make the most of any points of contact you have; whether this is people you meet at a recruitment event, the AC that you get put in touch with to answer questions before your interview or even the AC you have coffee with on the interview day. They can help answer any questions you have, and can also give you a sense of what the firm is like to work at, helping you to decide if it’s right for you.
