Aayush, Associate Consultant

What was your background prior to joining OC&C?
I was born in Mumbai, but – because of my parents’ jobs – I’ve lived in Scotland, the US, Kuwait, China and India (both Mumbai and Delhi). I moved to London at 16, and studied engineering at Cambridge University. Over my summer holidays, I did internships in all sorts of industries (engineering, consulting, finance) and decided that consulting was the one I enjoyed the most! Fast forward to January 2019, I joined OC&C as an Associate Consultant.

What’s your favourite OC&C experience?
For me, the company breakfasts are definitely a highlight. Every 6 weeks or so, OC&C organises a big breakfast with bagels, yoghurt, fruits, smoothies in our café. It’s a great way to start off a Friday and usually I eat so much that I barely have enough space for lunch! It’s also nice to be able to see all of my friends and other people around the office in the same place.

What do you like to get up to in your free time outside the office?
I enjoy playing and watching almost every sport imaginable (cricket, tennis, golf, football, basketball…). Cricket was my first love but tennis is a close second and I try to play once every couple of weeks. I like watching musicals (Hamilton is my favourite!) and movies, and occasionally also play a bit of guitar.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
I still think I’m pretty young and there’s a long way to go before I have the wisdom to give advice to my younger self. But if I had to say something, I would probably say make sure to surround yourself with the right people. It is amazing how much you can learn from just chatting to someone for 10 minutes. People love to teach and share what they’ve learned. If you have the right people around you, I think you can do just about anything.
